Arabian Autobiles open in Sharjah

Arabian Automobiles opened the AED 150 million facility on the 7th of April in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. The facility is the largest in its network.

Located on Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Sharjah, just before the flyover to Ajman and Al Wasit the showroom is home to Infiniti, Nissan and Renault brands. It is fast becoming the automobile hub of Sharjah and is conveniently accessible for buyers from Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain.

Arabian Automobiles also sharpened their edge of service with the region’s first HiQ facility, a fast fit service operation delivering ‘while-you-wait’ maintenance for all makes of vehicles. The facility also features an expanded Arabian Automobiles certified pre-owned car section.

2013 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix tickets went on sale last Sunday, with a greater choice of ticket categories and entertainment options on and off the track. Tickets start at a reasonable 365 AED (US $100) per person.

Among the new ticket categories are family ticket packages, a Friday Brunch Ticket, an Abu Dhabi Hill General Admission ticket as well as more exclusive options including the Yas Trackside Terrace and the Yas Marina Tower. A Yas Pass will extend the fun of the F1 weekend to include access to neighbouring Yas Waterworld and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. Yas Marina Circuit is aiming to increase international visitors for the 2013 Grand Prix to 42 percent from 35 percent last year.

Support races confirmed for the race weekend include the GP2 and GP3 Series, as well as the Porsche Supercup. Abu Dhabi Grand Prix ticket holders can also enjoy entertainment programme in the Oasis areas behind the Grandstands at Yas Marina Circuit and the Yasalam exclusive After-Race concerts. The Yasalam festival runs for a month before the race weekend, and also sees free concerts, film nights and community events take place across Abu Dhabi.

Nissan Patrol honoured by Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge

This year, once again, Nissan Patrol has been chosen as the official car of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, marking a ten-year partnership between event organisers, the Automobile and Touring Club and Nissan Middle East.

The fourth leg of the rally, which is counted as the toughest and stretches some 317 km across testing terrains, is named after Nissan. Happening across the Liwa desert, the rally begins on 4th leg and the fourth leg will happen on 10 April, one day prior to the finish.

Nissan Patrol has been enjoying a good year with more than 14,000 sold in 2012 – which is 66% growth according to Nissan.

Audi delivers 100th customer race car

Ingolstadt, April 4, 2013 – Newcomer to Audi Sport customer racing: Team MS RACING is switching to Audi and will be fielding two new R8 LMS ultra cars in the 2013 ADAC GT Masters. On Tuesday, quattro GmbH handed over the 100th race car from Heilbronn-Biberach, a facility of the Neckarsulm location, to the squad.

Austrian seals championship & Al Nabooda claim team title at Bahrain International Circuit. Clemens Schmid of Dubai-based Al Nabooda Racing won the fourth season of Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East title in Bahrain last week.

He secured his maiden Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East championship after finishing second in Round 12 at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC).

Starting second on the 14-car grid, behind teammate Karim Al-Azhari and 12-points clear before the start of the race, Schmid stayed second at finish but it was enough to win him the title, as Abdulaziz AlFaisal of Saudi Falcons, the only real rival to the crown finished third.

Schmid secured the title by a 14 points gap from two-times championship winner AlFaisal with 262 points and UAE’s Al-Azhari in third place with 224 points.

Kuwait Rally winners in second round Citroen and Fiesta

Kuwait Rally saw the Abu Dhabi Citroen team give in to the Qatari team in the Fiesta.

Qatar’s Nasser Al Attiyah won the Kuwait International Rally in late March to extend his lead in the 2013 regional series. With an inspiring performance in his Ford Fiesta RRC, Al Attiyah finished the second round of the championship with a winning margin of 1 min 13.9secs from Sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi in his Abu Dhabi Citroën Total World Rally Team DS3 RRC.

Competing in only his second ever rally, Mohammed Al Sahlawi edged out Abu Dhabi Racing team-mate Mohammed Al Mutawaa to win the new two-wheel drive class newly introduced in the rally.
