As Tesla’s Electric GT plans faced a setback with a crash of their prototype while testing, Jaguar is planning a race of their own that will be an important element in the coming Formula-E season. The race will use Jaguar E-Type, the sport SUV equipped with a 90 kWh battery pack with a range of “over 500 km”. Jaguar’s electric sport SUV had made a dramatic debut spinning out of a tunnel earlier this year. As it is an additional fixture, Jaguar could anyway get away with range anxieties anyway as it is meant to last only 30 minutes. So chances are, Jaguar could end up with the title of ‘the world’s first all-electric international race series for production-based cars’.

Meanwhile, Tesla will be using a stripped down version of its ‘ludicrously’ famous Model S P100D, weighing almost 500 kg less and capable of touching the 100 kmph mark in 2.1 seconds. That is one reason to look forward to ‘Electric GT’, the all-electric and all-Tesla racing championship in its inaugural season next year.
