Half a decade since the F-Type was launched, the new model year amendments have made the Jaguar F-Type look even more of a sports car. It’s arriving in the second quarter of 2018. The front end becomes sharper and more powerful with LED headlights adding a technological edge. From the images we get to see here, It looks more of a Berlinetta in its new version!

One of the most important features that better the driving experience in the new car will be a ReRun app developed with GoPro. First of the factory-fitted kind, it creates videos of your drive with real-time vehicle data including speed, throttle position, gear selection, braking force and g force. The high quality video – including unique ‘highlights’ sections – can be downloaded to the driver’s smartphone and shared on social media. Suddenly, the Jaguar F-Type has shot a few rungs up the enjoy and share platform for enthusiasts!

A winner of 160 awards in five years, the F-Type with its all-aluminium body has quickly grown into a hot favourite among two-seaters and the rollout has already seen Coupé bodystyles, manual transmissions and intelligent all-wheel drive. Now the new F-Type presents itself in a wider range – precisely 28 derivatives. As the PR states, “from the purist appeal of the rear-wheel drive, 340PS F-TYPE to the 200mph (322kmph), all-wheel drive F-TYPE SVR – Jaguar’s all-weather supercar”.

“Great sports car design is about proportion and purity. The most challenging element of the process for designers is to focus on and maintain an exciting silhouette that promises performance. For the 2018 model year F-TYPE, we looked at how we could fine-tune key details to deliver even more clarity of purpose in the overall design – for the driver, the passenger and onlookers.”

Every F-TYPE now features the Touch Pro infotainment system with quick response, intuitive tablet-style operation, intelligent navigation functions such as Share ETA and online services such as real-time traffic and live weather reports. New lightweight slimline seats help shave off 8 kilograms from the F-Type, while new chrome and aluminium trim finishers heighten the driver-focused feel of the interior that gets Siena Tan leather as an option.

The F-TYPE’s suite of driver-focused assistance systems is a semi-automated park-assist function that can get you into and out of a parallel parking spot. It uses an ultrasonic assessment of space available while the driver controls the throttle and brakes.

The Drivetrain

The new F-TYPE configurations are as follows; each model is available in Coupé and Convertible formats, as earlier. The 3.0L V6 engine is present in two versions producing 340 PS and 380 PS respectively. All models benefit from the eight-speed Quickshift transmission and mechanical limited-slip differential. While enthusiasts will be pleased to see the presence of a manual rear wheel drive throughout, disappointingly, the V8 version doesn’t come with a stickshift!

The R-Dynamic model is new to the core range. One Response to 2018 jaguar F-type flaunts 400 hp V6 and GoPro technology

  1. Saleh Akbar says:

I LOVE the refreshed bumper on the F-type. My only gripe with the original aesthetically was that vertical slat in the air inlets flanking the center grille. Now, they’ve adopted a more SVR type bumper with wide open inlets (and a horizontal slat in one variation). Looks GREAT
