301 launched with class-leading space and competitive features with prices starting from less than AED 50,000

When I attended the launch of the Volkswagen Polo or the Nissan Sentra, I should have guessed the road being chartered by carmakers – overlapping segments yet unified in their offerings, namely more space. In these segments defined by size and price, space is the luxury that designers compete to make available and the Peugeot 301 is no exception to the rule. In fact, the new car from Peugeot almost redefines expectations in this regard.

Refreshing the mid-size segment with space, features and style: The Peugeot 301

On an evening filled with iterations of future dreams and a mystic lake and golfing greens ahead, the new 301 emerged from the lake, as lights shone on the future of Peugeot in the region. The 301 carries forward the refined character of Peugeot while adding more tangible value to the brand – because that is what skews buying decisions in the midsize segment these days.

Peugeot 301 has the dynamics, both of drive and cabin comfort, to be among the top consideration list in compact sedans.

Available in 1.6 L VTi, 115bhp, with automatic gearbox, the 301 has been developed to adapt to our terrain and climatic implications, Peugeot claims. The 1.6 L engine gives out a maximum power of 115 bhp and a maximum torque of 150 Nm, reached at 4,000rpm.

At 4.44m long, it sets itself apart with an optimized and generous rear space of 121 mm legroom and boot volume of 640 L.

Just as the Nissan Sentra differentiated itself with competition, the Peugeot 301 offers additional features like electronic air conditioning, MP3 audio system with Bluetooth hands-free kit and USB connection, remote opening of the boot, rear parking assistance and more. Most of the Peugeot’s new models come certified with Euro-NCap 5-star safety. The 301 is no exception in safety paradigms.

While the rear seats and boot define space competence, the ESP, ABS, up to 4 airbags, emergency braking assistance, ISOFIX etc. take care of Euro N-Cap 5-star safety.

I have heard only good things about its handling prowess so far, but you can soon get a first-hand experience report on DriveME. Until then…
