It has starred in as many Bond movies as Sean Connery and Roger Moore – seven. It is as irresistible as 007 himself or even more for some. It gets gals with panache, just like 007. It is the only star that can make a comeback without caring a rat’s tail about the day or its age. It’s the Aston Martin DB5, and its story continues.
Now you can technically own an Aston Martin DB5 – a copy of the original that starred in Goldfinger (1964) – because Aston Martin and EON production that produced the movie have come together to create 25 examples of the Goldfinger continuation cars. They will be equipped with gadgets – working gadgets – as found in the movie, including the revolving number plates. When it is being developed by Oscar® winner Chris Corbould OBE, who has been part of the Special Effects team in no less than fourteen 007 adventures, eight as Supervisor, it is just as good as Q himself working on it. Better still, the new recreation is being built at Aston Martin Works, Newport Pagnell – the original home of the DB5. The cars will be authentic reproductions of the DB5 seen on screen, with some sympathetic modifications to ensure the highest levels of build quality and reliability. They will all shine in Silver Birch paint – just like the original.
The DB5 made its first appearance in the third James Bond movie, Goldfinger, alongside Sean Connery as James Bond, and went on to be featured in a further six James Bond movies: Thunderball (1965), again with Connery; GoldenEye (1995) and Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) with Pierce Brosnan and three appearances alongside Daniel Craig in Casino Royale (2006), Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015).

The DB5 has enjoyed tremendous popularity right from day 1. It even spawned a Corgi die-cast model, which sold an incredible 2.5 million in its first year of production (1965) – enough to inspire an entire generation of children. While the DB5 Continuation cars will be built for 25 lucky ones – an additional example each will be made for EON and Aston Martin, plus another to be auctioned for charity.
Earlier, the DB4 G.T. continuation project had proved to be a hit with patrons. Each Goldfinger DB5 continuation car will be priced at £2.75m plus taxes. The DB5 will start delivering its mission towards the end of 2019 or early 2020.
