After making its regional debut at the Dubai Motorshow, the all-new Camry 2012 was officially unveiled by Al-Futtaim Motors, at the Dubai Autodrome, underpinning the sporty image that Camry has adopted in its new avatar.
Derived from the Anglicised transcription of the Japanese word “kanmuri” meaning “Crown” in Japanese, Camry has sold around 14 million units and is considered the flagship premium sedan by Toyota.
Toyota aims at ushering in an innovative “ERA Sedan Concept” with the new Seventh Generation Camry, an era that stands for “Emotional” and “Rational”. Bold design and dynamic driving coupled with a quieter ride, more space, better fuel economy, world class safety measures, redesigned cabin controls and a more responsive electrical steering make it new enough while it carries forward the general character of a Camry drive along with the trusted reliability built across six generations.

Progressive exterior styling and practical comfort
Rationality as always, improved aerodynamic performance and a low, sporty design are at the centre of the redesigned Camry 2012. The low front design features headlamps and a front grille laid out in a straight line for a wide, sporty look, which is also reflected in the real styling, which is more reminiscent of the outgoing Camry than the front. Character lines sweep back seamlessly from the front bumper towards the sides and rear, expressing energetic sportiness. The front and rear corners of the bumpers have been changed to an aerocorner design, flattening the vehicle’s sides from front to rear in order to smooth the flow of air across the sides.
Camry 2012 comes with premium interiors and a better perception of space
Camry 2012 has done its bit to be worthy of the premium sedan badge it has gradually earned over the years. The new Camry has a more inviting interior, with more luxurious textures and materials as well as a greater perception of space. A new dashboard design, increased couple distance between seats for more rear legroom (a good 46 mm extra) a genuine leather steering wheel grip and an instrument panel, that adopts a soft pad with real stitching and a wood panel, as seen in more expensive cars boldly announces a departure for the better from the previous Camry models.
More Power and Efficiency with new technology
The new 2.5 L four-cylinder petrol engine boosts output by more than 15 percent and torque by over 8 percent delivering a more responsive performance, all while using up a significant 11.4 per cent less fuel. The lighter body, built of more high-tensile steel, also contributes to better fuel economy.
The new range is newly equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission that offers a sequential manual shift mode for a sportier drive.

A more rigid body structure, revised suspension and new aerodynamic aids contribute to greater straight-line stability, a crisper steering response and higher overall ride comfort. The taillights and side-view mirrors incorporate aero-stabilizing fins while the under-body aerodynamic elements regulate airflow, also contributing to ride smoothness.
The all-new Camry model features Toyota’s latest speed-sensitive electric power steering system that responds to light effort during parking and moderate effort at higher speeds.
