Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge flags off on 27th March
Nissan Middle East and the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE have announced a new 3 year partnership agreement to support the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. Samir Cherfan, Managing Director, Nissan Middle East and Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the ATCUAE and founder of the event, signed the agreement for the 25th edition of the Rally, which will take place from 27th March to 2nd April. The Nissan Special Stage will take place on 1st April, stretching across some 258.10 kms of the most testing rallying terrain. More than 100 drivers and riders from around the world will tackle the 25th Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge.
Toyota line-up marks Al-Futtaim Motors 60th anniversary
A small shipment of 20 Land Cruisers and Toyopet sedans were unleashed onto the UAE sixty years ago. Thus started the operations of Al-Futtaim Motors in 1955, the company which is the exclusive distributor of Toyota, Lexus and Hino and one of the leading automobile leaderships in the UAE. A series of festivities will mark the occasion starting with the launch of eight limited edition Toyota vehicles – Yaris Hatchback, Yaris Sedan, Corolla, Camry, RAV4, Fortuner, Prado and Land Cruiser will appear in select trim levels. All eight models will include diamond-stitch leather seats with embroidery, in addition to a special 60th anniversary badge.
Complimentary features will be worth AED 4,500 to AED 14,000, with features ranging from navigation and rear seat entertainment, to rear camera, parking sensor and Bluetooth, in addition to exterior packages for more distinguished styling.
Emirates Classic Car Festival on March 19th weekend
The seventh edition of the Emirates Classic Car Festival will be held between March 19th and 22nd on Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai. It is being organised by Emaar Properties in association with the UAE Ministry of Culture, Youth & Community Development and the Automobile & Touring Club of the United Arab Emirates (ATCUAE).
The finest collection of classic cars and motorcycles in spectacular makes, styles and colours will take spectators on a journey of evolution. Classic car and motorbikes collectors and owners can register on the Festival’s website at www.emiratesclassiccarfestival.com.
New Porsche Centre Dubai one of the largest in the world
The new Porsche Centre by Al Nabooda Automobiles LLC was open to public from the start of this month. Costing AED 144 million, the dealership will showcase 49 Porsche cars across three levels. Over the 5,318 sqm with a total built up area of 21,711 sqm, there is a roof-top terrace, Porsche Exclusive Flagship Dealer Fitting Lounge, Porsche Drivers Selection Boutique store and valet parking for all customers and guests. The Service Centre will also house 14 work bays and three new Dialog Bays.
The inaugural period will be marked by an exclusive 918 Spyder loaned by HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai International Marine Club. The Classic Corner features a range of vintage vehicles including a 1986 original Porsche 959 and a 911 GT1 Straßenversion, one of only 19 models ever produced; courtesy of Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE. The display is only for a limited time.
Other attractions include a Tequipment Corner, displaying the latest personalisation and customisation offerings for post-production Porsche vehicles; the Porsche Brandspot, an interactive display providing customers insight into the history of Porsche, a racing simulator which replicates the experience of a Porsche on the race track and the Carrera Café, located on every level of the showroom.
