Training a driving instructor can change the way a thousand students learn – or even more. Dubai Autodrome and Road Transport Authority (RTA) have come together rto conduct an 18-month program aimed at the UAE’s RTA approved driving academies and instructors. Mission: help improve driving standards on the road.

The partnership was formed in December 2017 to improve the skills of instructors by educating through ‘real life’ road situations that are designed to improve the instructors’ situational awareness on the roads. The course is also expected to help them improve their teaching skills thus benefiting the student driver, ultimately. So far, 800 instructors have undergone the training course and 2018 is expected to see 1,200 more.

The course combines theory and practical elements and among the number of topics covered during the training, the top driving techniques and situational skills are: Emergency braking, Proper steering technique, cornering techniques, tackling poor road conditions with lack of grip, safe driving techniques and situational awareness.

Speaking of the partnership, Faisal Al Sahlawi, General Manager Dubai Autodrome stated, “As a business, we are constantly striving to deliver the highest quality in motorsports entertainment, but we also need to focus on education and training for instructors and drivers, and this esteemed partnership with the RTA allows us to do so.” The Dubai Autodrome is dedicated to helping keep Dubai’s roads safe and accident-free. The implementation of new, community events such as Driver Experiences and Roll Racing DXB have been created to give road users the opportunity to drive their vehicles in a safe and controlled environment.
