Vinfast is a fascinating success story now ready to write a new chapter in the Middle East. The pride of Vietnam in the realm of electric mobility, Vinfast makes an entry into the UAE market fronting four crossover models.
A spirit born to succeed
Vinfast is a part of the Vingroup, known for its phenomenal journey of success in a short span of time. The Group is set apart by a relentless “start-up spirit” – which is its corporate ethos and all-encompassing philosophy. Even as it is one of Vietnam’s largest private conglomerates, Vingroup’s founder, Pham Nhat Vuong, views the company as an enterprise at the beginning of its journey. It helps to keep Vinfast nimble, proactive and always prepared for new challenges – characteristics that have proven handy while propelling ahead in the fiercely competitive automotive industry.
In 2017, Vinfast arrived in the automotive world with a stunning achievement – the setting up of a state-of-the-art facility in Haiphong in a record 21 months. The current expansion drive comes in a year that has seen VinFast become the country’s best-selling automotive brand – a historic first for any domestic brand and especially remarkable for an EV maker, competing with foreign brands and traditional favourites with Internal Combustion Engines.
As it enters the UAE and the region, Vinfast aims to replicate the phenomenal success it has achieved in a country that is no stranger to challenges. Represented in the UAE by Al Tayer Motors, Vinfast has opened its first home in the country in Al Barsha, Dubai. Its principal promise resonates with the anthem of the future – ‘sustainable luxury.’
Equipped to serve its ambitious plans, the 3S facility is spread over 950+ square metres, including a 400 square metre showroom as well as service and spare parts areas. The VinFast facility will be part of the 55,000 square metre Al Tayer Motors complex, which has a 660kW rooftop solar power generating system with solar panels installed across the entire roof. The electricity generated from this caters to 25% of the requirements of the building. Green technologies such as intelligent lighting and cooling systems also make it an extremely energy efficient facility. Interestingly, the eco-friendly facility echoes the sustainable brand promise of Vinfast, its newest brand partner too.
“As the automotive sector undergoes a massive transformation with futuristic mobility solutions, we now offer customers the choice of vehicles from one of the world’s newest and fast-growing global EV brands.” said Ashok Khanna, Chief Executive Officer, Al Tayer Motors.
Ta Xuan Hien – CEO of VinFast Middle East said that opening their first dealership in the dynamic commercial hub of Dubai in partnership in partnership with Al Tayer Motors, veterans in the region’s automotive industry “marks an important milestone in VinFast’s expansion strategy in the Middle East.” He reaffirmed the brand’s commitment to“delivering world-class electric vehicles that are safe and environmentally friendly, contributing to the goal of sustainable development and leading the transition to green energy in this region.”
Al Tayer Motors will retail four models from the dynamic stables of the young brand. VinFast’s VF8 is a two row electric SUV, bears the signature of the legendary Italian design house Pininfarina. It also bears the prestige of the Vietnamese brand’s first vehicle to make its appearance on UAE roads. Following the flagship will be models such as the VF 6, VF 7, and VF 9 that will be available in 2025.
In their aim to be a refined and future-proof choice for UAE customers, Vinfast counts on their models’ fluid, sporty appearance and spacious interiors, complemented by state-of-the-art technology, reliable EV range and fast charging speeds topped by a reassuring 10-year car warranty. Available in two trims, Eco and Plus, VF 8 prices start from AED 183,240/- (VAT inclusive) with many exterior and interior colours to choose from.
A subsidiary of Vingroup JSC, one of Vietnam’s largest conglomerates, Vinfast is a pure-play EV manufacturer with the mission of making EVs accessible to everyone. With its range including electric SUVs, e-scooters, and e-buses, VinFast is currently embarking on a rapid expansion globally by increasing its manufacturing capacities with a focus on key markets across North America, Europe and Asia.
The company is already planning its presence in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain – markets with favourable EV policies. Saudi Arabia for instance is aiming for 30% EV usage in Riyadh by 2030. As the regional EV market is poised to grow annually at a 28.9% by 2028, VinFast makes its entry at the right time with the right spirit to reshape perceptions of electric vehicles in its goal of becoming a global leader in sustainable electric mobility.
