Meet the winners and browse through the list of nominees to see if your favourites made it here. Feel free to post your views on the awards and cars in the comment section below. But first, spend a minute to read the lead-in.
Value and innovation sparkled brightest amidst a list of cars chosen for glory across a record 29 categories in a season where humanity is racing a virus and events are getting cancelled to keep its spread in check. The MECOTY award event scheduled for March 30thstands cancelled and the good news is that we get to discover the winners “without further ado” (just trying to make up for the absence of an on-stage speech.)
MG HS has won the Jury MECOTY title while Peugeot 508 claimed the Public MECOTY. For the 29 categories listed below, the first mentioned nominee is the winner, followed by the rest in no particular order. When available, we will provide a link to the review or video of the model.
DRIVEMEONLINE.COM EDITOR AND MECOTY JURY MEMBER SUDEEP KOSHY OBSERVES:
“The recently realized crossover concept from MG is an unmistakable symbol of what the brand wants to accomplish with regard to rousing design, technological excellence and most importantly, exceptional value meted out to the greater car buying population through approachable prices.” As a member of the Jury that tested half-a-hundred cars in recent months to pick the most remarkable models among themin 29 categories, our Editor Sudeep Koshy ponders on what could have led to the choice of MG HS as the overall title winner. “The Car Of The Year as a concept isn’t necessarily the embodiment of flawless automotive craft. It is rather an instance of inspiration that displays sufficient signs of having gone the extra mile in creating a delightful product that pleases at sight and sets a compelling example for its peers and rivals to rise above the norms traditionally set by the category.”
