On Thursday evening, sighs gathered as clouds above the Meydan hotel. The anticipation of the new XF had been growing large even before the XE stole the limelight. The Jaguar XE brought back many to the JLR fold and it did something else too – the lauded design stoked the eager fire within those who always chose Jaguar XF for its overwhelming presence and delectable performance. Their wait is now over, as the Middle East is introduced to an all-new XF.

As the car rolled in, for a moment it felt like I was part of a drama being reenacted and that the Jaguar XE was emerging out of theatrical fog. Stunning as it looked, the Jaguar XF looked more akin to the XE in size as well as design. Sending out the first feeler, the seats seemed to be slightly firmer and the cabin elegantly compact, but the Jaguar XF actually has a longer wheelbase as well as larger legroom and headroom.

Jaguar vehemently assures the buyer that it is a sport car company and retains the crouching profile of its business car. The new model retains the core attributes of the XF while the 75% aluminium-intensive architecture saves up to 190kg in weight even as it increases torsional stiffness by up to 28 per cent. The drive benefits further from the double wishbone front suspension, which improves steering response and the integral link rear suspension that refines the travel comfort.

The new Jaguar XF maintains its poise all through the journey, thanks to the Adaptive dynamic system that provides continuously variable damping. When you read these changes with the help of the new Jaguar design language, it translates to low speed comfort, high speed precision and relentless appeal while standing still.

Let Ian Hobley, Vehicle Line Director of Jaguar XF guide you through a two minute introduction to the new XF

If Jaguar XF is at the heart of Jaguar, the F-type is at the heart of almost all the productions that have happened ever since. The Jaguar XF allows the driver to tailor the response in terms of the power, the transmission and the handling, using Configurable dynamics, first used in the F-type. It is fluid and composed with a character that mirrors that of the driver. The new XF features technology that helps the ride adapt to road conditions, as well as torque vectoring to control the inner wheels to negotiate a corner confidently.

Wrapped in fine grain leather, rich veneers and textured aluminium, the new Jaguar XF cabin retains the ‘theatre of the interior’ with the emerging gear knob and the spin-open air vents as well as the dual-view screen that allows the front passenger to watch TV while the driver pays attention to the navigation screen. And talking about screens, the touch screen is 10” wide while information is now laid out on a 12.3” instrument panel.
