From this weekend to the next, Al Tayer Motors on Sheikh Zayed Road will wear the garb of an art museum, showcasing artifacts that were born in the unlikeliest places utilizing the unlikeliest of raw material. These impressive art pieces are the handiwork of workshop technicians at Al Tayer Motors and Premier Motors, Abu Dhabi, created from discarded parts as the result of an internal competition organized for them. Working during their spare time, the teams of technicians fashioned nearly 90 art objects such as animal figures, vehicles, insects, flowers, birds, musical instruments, robots, and more.
The event is titled ‘Unseen Potential’ – Art from Scrap and Discarded Parts. From 14 – 22 September 2018 at Al Tayer Motors, Sheikh Zayed Rd., Dubai. The exhibition is open to everyone and its outcome will support UAE- approved charitable causes. Visitors can even place bids for their favourite pieces, there was a pressing interest observed to this end in last year’s competition. The art pieces can also be viewed via www.altayermotors.com/unseenpotential but I urge you to be see them for real and encourage the artists who worked for it.
Some of them are truly inspired and almost as good as any installation you can find at worldwide museums. A large dose of imagination and a balanced sense of proportions have been at work in creating many of them. Look at the eagle for instance, and another that just caught a fish in its talons. Look at that fighter jet about to drill through space. Look into the detail of the galleon or the chopper or the charging bull. Each one amazes by its simplicity or complexity, or both.
Al Tayer Motors is one of the UAE’s premier automobile dealerships representing Ford, Lincoln, Jaguar, Land Rover, Maserati, Ferrari and Ford Trucks. The initiative is an exemplary approach in recycling discarded automobile parts and scrap material. “Fostering a work culture that recognizes employees for their efforts and provides opportunities to display their talents plays a strong role in creating a happy workforce. This in turn spurs them to put in their best to ensure customer satisfaction, resulting in a win-win situation for everyone.” More than 350 technicians from 11 locations across the UAE participated in the two-month long contest.
