Last Friday, championship trophies in four different race series marked the end of the season finale at Dubai Autodrome.
NGK Racing Series
Class One championship trophies went home with Costas Papantonis and Alexandros Annivas of Gulf Petrochem Mouhrista Racing. Their Seat Leon Super Copa finished second in both the races. Jonathan Mullan and Umair Khan of ZRT Motorsport sealed the Class two title in a Honda Integra. Within Class Two, the Renault Clio Cup was another spirited race with Peter England taking the first class win and Colin Boyle nabbing the second. Willie Morrison was crowned the Clio Cup champion.
The fastest car on the grid was the Dragon Racing Ferrari 488 GT3, driven by Leon Price and Rob Barff. The Class Three championship went to fellow Dragon Racing driver Jim Geddie while the Dragon Racing car Porsche GT4 Clubsport, driven by Paul Sebright and Saeed Al Mehairi claimed Class Four in both races. Veteran racer Tanni Hanna claimed the season title for Dragon Racing.
UAE Sportbike Championship
The 600cc championship leader Mahmoud Tannir faced challenges from Fahad Al Gharbally of MSK Racing and Kuwaiti rider Al Gharbally, who topped the qualifying session on his MV Augusta F3, but retained his title at the end of the day. Another Honda rider, Brendan Zaaiman, took second-place on both races while South African rider Lara Pepler walked away with the 600cc Rookie Cup for the season even though she only finished fourth in her forays.
Formula Gulf Academy
Kane Shepherd wrapped up the season on 230 points to take the title and a scholarship prize worth $20,000. Filip Kamiiarz claimed second-place with 138 points and Talal Beshara secured third-place on 109 points. Kane Shepherd of Thailand racked up a Motorsport hattrick with top marks in qualifying, two race wins and the championship crown.
Radical Middle East Cup
On a day when former champion Tarek Elgammel and Dream Racing’s fellow racer Mark Stoleson went out of the race after two DNF in a row, Ian Roberts of GulfSport Racing seized a narrow victory in Race One and Mikhail Stepanov of B-Tuning took Race Two.
