Racer Olena Bublik takes home title in 2018 Yas Super Street Challenge Open Category. AED 132,000 in cash shared among five categories as prizes.

Saudi Arabia is envisioning women drivers while Top Gear fans are engaged in their occasional fantasy – when stig finally removes his helmet, he would reveal that it is a her! That is actually not an impossibility with the likes of Sabine Schmitz on the top gear sets. Meanwhile, on the drag strips of Yas Marina circuit, a new queen claims her throne.

In a dramatic fourth and final round of high-octane drag racing, the first-ever ‘Queen of the Street’ was crowned at the 2018 Yas Super Street Challenge. Olena Bublik was named overall series winner in the Super Street Open Category beating some of the best street racers from across the UAE, GCC and Russia.

Bublik started off in the finals leading the Super Street Open Category, in which her determined performance clinched the championship with a total of 1,558 points, in what is only her second attempt. Bublik’s title comes in honour of her third-place podium finish, finishing behind second placed driver Saeed Ali Al Shamsi and winner Saleh Mohamed Salah Uddin.   In the 4×4 Super Street SUV Category, Yousef Mohamed Yousef was named ‘King of the Street’ after scoring a winning total of 1,818 points.

Yousef was also quickest to the finish line in the final round of 4×4 Super Street SUV racing, with Khalid Toufiq Khalaf taking second place and Omar Mohammed in third.   The 2018 Yas Super Street Challenge saw more than 70 modified cars battle it out on the track with drivers also competing in the Index 9.0, Index 10.5 and Index 11.5 categories. A total of AED 132,000 was shared among the combined field across the five categories.
