Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat 2021 Redeye is ‘Demon driven’

So how different is the make up of the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye? An upgraded torque converter delivers an 18 percent increase in torque multiplication when compared with the standard Charger SRT Hellcat. The Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye’s engine has 25 major component upgrades, including a larger supercharger, strengthened connecting rods and pistons, high-speed valve train, fuel injection system and improved lubrication system.

Compared with the standard Charger SRT Hellcat engine, the Redeye features:

Largest factory supercharger of any production car – 2.7 liters versus 2.4 liters
Increased boost pressure: 14.5 psi versus 11.6 psi
Higher rpm limit: 6,500 rpm versus 6,200 rpm
Fuel: Two dual-stage fuel pumps versus one

So how much quicker is the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye? On a 3.4Km road course, it runs 1.2 seconds faster than the Charger SRT Hellcat, and stays ahead by 7 car lengths after one lap!

The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye is all fire in the belly! It can vaporize 1.43 gal/min (5.4 liters/min) of fuel. At this rate, the fuel tank will dry up in just under 11 minutes! Thankfully, on a regular highway drive, the Redeye drinks up a gallon only in 22 miles – 9.35 km per litre!

One key to the engine’s imposing power output is air. The newly designed performance hood of the Hellcat Redeye with the functional hood scoop looks even more sinister and provides maximum air intake to the supercharged power plant. Along with the mail-slot grille opening and air box opening near the wheel liner, they supply the engine with an 18 percent greater air-flow rate than the SRT Hellcat engine (1,134 cubic feet per minute). At full power, this is the equivalent flow rate to 89 adults simultaneously emptying their lungs in one second.

Staying cool is the secret to great performance. The award-winning SRT Power Chiller™ diverts the air-conditioning refrigerant from the cabin to a chiller unit mounted by the low-temperature circuit coolant pump. After the charge air coolant flows by a low-temperature radiator at the front of the vehicle, the chiller unit cools it further, before it flows to the heat exchangers in the supercharger. Once the engine stops, the engine temperature rises as the result of an after-boil, also called heat soak effect. The feature Dodge calls ‘Race Cooldown’ minimizes this by keeping the engine’s cooling fan and low-temperature circuit coolant pump running after the engine shuts off. This lowers the supercharger/charge air cooler temperature. Race Cooldown was first featured on the Challenger SRT Demon in 2018 and became standard on the Charger SRT Hellcat in 2019.

Most powerful Charger SRT Hellcat lineup The supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V-8 engine raises the shift points to 6,100 rpm in automatic mode, which yields a 10-horsepower boost, now delivering 717 horsepower and 881 N.m of torque. The TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission on all Charger models supports performance with 160-millisecond shifts and rev matching while improving economy too. All 2021 Charger SRT Hellcat models are loaded with standard performance features, including Adaptive Damping Suspension, Brembo brake system, electric power steering to optimize steering effort, launch control.

Launch Assist to resolve wheel hop! This phenomenon happens when tires quickly slip and regain traction at launch, rapidly storing up and releasing energy in the driveline. High torque spikes can severely damage driveline components and one had to come off the throttle. Launched in the Challenger SRT Demon, Launch Assist uses wheel speed sensors to detect slipping and reduces torque momentarily increasing traction. So the driver needn’t lift the pedal!

Line Lock for burnouts! Engages the front brakes to hold the Charger stationary, but leaves the rear wheels free for a burnout to heat up and clean the rear tires. The system will also let the driver perform a controlled rolling burnout and can engage for up to 200 rear wheel revolutions.

Quartermile blast past! 2021 Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody crosses 10.96 sec at 201 kmph while the Redeye Widebody does it in 10.6 seconds at a speed of 208 kmph. The Hellcat has a top speed of 315 kmph while the Redeye shoots to 327 kmph!

Aggressive widebody exterior Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye features the aggressive widebody exterior, like the Hellcat, with integrated fender flares that add 3.5 inches of body width.
