There can never be too many supercars in the world – going by the number of dignitaries and celebrities who turned up at Deals on Wheels on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, to witness the unveiling of the latest hypercar in town.

So, the latest hypercar in town is called Milan Red – a curious combination of the German and English names of a bird of prey, Der Rotmilan or the Red Kite. Remarkably, the driving modes of this car too are named in this very spirit – glide, hunt and attack!
What makes the Milan Red a hypercar is its rarity, stupendous power and blistering speed. Milan Red has 1307 horses driving it and can get to 100 kmph in 2.47 seconds while blazing its way to 400 kmph! The 0 – 200 timing is an even more astounding 5.5 sec while 299 kmph is attained in just 9.9 sec! The production plan of this supercar is limited to just 99 examples. The seismic power of Milan Red comes from not a hybrid powerhouse but a quad-turbocharged 6.2L V8 engine, crafted by AVL, who caters to Formula One racing. The rear wheel drive car uses a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.

There is plenty of carbon fibre that keeps the weight down to 1300 kg but this Austrian supercar will be the first street legal production car with a carbon fibre reinforced double-wishbone suspension. The 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged aluminium wheels get Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, too. In what seems to belong to a smart phone or a Health monitoring app, the proposed steering of the Milan Red comes with sensors that can map the heart rate of the driver. One can safely assume that these readings will enable the company to provide even more heart-pounding pleasure from forthcoming models.

MILAN Automotive GmbH is from Austria – the hint of irony in the name vanishes when we realise Milan in German refers to Kite, the bird. Deals on Wheels, the purveyor of this supercar experience in the GCC region, is among the four distinguished agents worldwide. The launch was an invitation only event but such exclusivity hasn’t prevented eighteen examples of the cars from being already spoken for. While the gathering got a satisfying glimpse of the super-stylish exterior with its imposing wings and resplendent lights in the rear, the interior was still under wraps as the Milan Red just lay there in its stunning silence. The actual car with signs of extra-terrestrial life should be on its way to our shores, some time next year.
